Winter Wonderland Dining Room Tablescape

Everything is done in clear glass, crystal, silver and white.  For New Year's Eve I had tiny silver ornaments in the smaller glasses which showed up at different heights since there is a mixture of crystal. I have removed them here since New Year's is over so the table can be used for most of January.
The napkins were inherited and have a beautiful cut work design in the corner.  They are covered with white organza napkin sheaths and the napkin rings are antique silver ones from the early 19th century.
My favorite things are the silver butter dishes and the crystal salt cellars.  They seem to impart the graciousness of earlier, less hurried times when mealtimes were lingering and not rushed in order to get to soccer practice!!!.
The centerpiece is in a cut glass vase given to me by my grandmother and filled with artificial tulips and white cymbidium orchids as well as some silver, glittery things that look like forsythia.  The tulips had just enough green leaves on them so that it wasn't necessary to add additional foliage.
The flatware is a mixture of old silverplate patterns I have picked up over the years.  Many are engraved with beautiful monograms which I love.    One can always say they were handed down by a relative!!
The serving table was set up with the champagne bucket and silver overlay sherbets.  The favors were put on the other silver tray so guests could depart with them in 2014!!  I'm participating in Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps On the Porch.

  6. I will try to get a better picture and post it. The vase is lead crystal and probably from the early 1900's. Thank you.

  7. Hello Sandi! Welcome to blogland! I love your Mardi Gras table over at Susan's Tablescape Thursday. The mask Mardi Gras plates caught my attention, I just love them. I have been looking for a set of these Muirfield Magnificence mask plates for myself. Your crystal is lovely on your winter table, you are so right about the salt cellars imparting graciousness to a table. Everything looks lovely.

I am a newbie too. My six month blogging anniversary is this week.

    1. Thanks so much. Someone really upped the price on these plates on Ebay this year and paid $227 for 4 plates! I have never paid over $10 each as they are nothing fine-made in Sri Lanka and the original price was $3.99 at Marshalls. I picked mine up one at a time so hope this info helps..
